St. Louis 7, Montreal 6 (11 inn.)

MONTREAL, April 26 (UPI) -- Kerry Robinson's infield hit drove in the go-ahead run in top of the 11th inning and Dave Veres recorded his first save of the season Friday night as the St. Louis Cardinals downed the Montreal Expos, 7-6.

Robinson's infield hit off Tomokazu Ohka (2-2) scored J.D. Drew from second base as the Cardinals won for just the third time on their 13-game road trip, which concludes with Sunday's contest at Olympic Stadium.

Veres allowed a hit and struck out two in the bottom of the 11th and secured the victory for Gene Stechschulte (2-0), who tossed a scoreless 10th.

St. Louis took the lead in the top of the ninth, 6-5, on Jim Edmonds' two-run double. But Jose Vidro tied it for Montreal with an RBI single in the bottom half and in the process extended his hitting streak to 12 games.

Vladimir Guerrero and Orlando Cabrera homered for the Expos, whose six-game winning streak came to an end.
