NEW YORK, April 11 (UPI) -- Florida Marlins Manager Jeff Torborg was suspended three games Thursday for excessive arguing and inappropriatw conduct in a game against his former team, the Montreal Expos, on Monday.
The suspensions were announced by Bob Watson, Major League Baseball vice president of on-field operations.
Torborg became incensed when Florida's Mike Lowell had a three-run homer overturned by the umpires in the fourth inning of Monday's game and was ejected by Crew Chief Tim McClelland.
Watson also handed a three-game suspension to Marlins
righthander Kevin Olsen for throwing at and hitting Marlon Anderson in the eighth inning of a game against the Philadelphia Phillies last Friday.
Unless Torborg and Olsen appeal, both suspensions will begin Friday when Florida begins a three-game series against Atlanta.
Pittsburgh Pirates reliever Luis Pineda also received a three-game suspension for hitting Todd Hundley of the Chicago Cubs in an April 3 game.
