Texas 4, NY Mets 2

ARLINGTON, Texas, March 29 (UPI) -- Ivan Rodriguez belted a three-run homer Friday night as the Texas Rangers made their spring home debut a winning one with a 4-2 over the New York Mets.

Rodriguez's third spring homer in the bottom of the second off Shawn Estes gave the Rangers a 3-2 lead.

Rafael Palmeiro added a solo homer in the fourth for the Rangers, who had just six hits.

Dave Burba won for the third time in five spring starts as he allowed two runs and five hits in three innings. John Rocker worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the ninth for the save.

Estes fell to 1-4 this spring after giving up four runs and four hits in five innings. The offseason acquisition from San Francisco walked one and struck out two.

Jeromy Burnitz hit a solo homer for the Mets.

The game, played at the Ballpark at Arlington, attracted a crowd of 22,031.
