St. Louis 6, Montreal 1

JUPITER, Fla., March 25 (UPI) -- Darryl Kile and Andy Benes each pitched four scoreless innings Monday to lead the St. Louis Cardinals to a 6-1 Grapefruit League win over the Montreal Expos.

Kile and Benes each allowed one hit and two walks before Mike Matthews pitched the ninth.

Mike DiFelice homered in the second and drove in three runs for the Cardinals, who improved to 16-8 this spring. Edger Renteria was 3-for-3 and drove in a run.

Starter Carl Pavano took the loss for Montreal, allowing five runs and nine hits in five innings.
