NY Yankees 10, Kansas City 6

TAMPA, Fla., March 15 (UPI) -- Alfonso Soriano belted two three-run homers Friday, but starter Mike Mussina continued his sluggish spring as the New York Yankees outslugged the Kansas City RoyalS, 10-6.

Soriano continued to be the Yankees best hitter this spring, going three for three to raise his average to .380 with a team-leading 19 hits. He homered in the second inning off starter Chad Durbin and again in a five-run fifth off loser Nate Field.

Soriano was not so adept in the field, commiting two errors at second base.

Staked to a 3-0 lead by Soriano, Mussina allowed three runs -- two earned -- and four hits in four innings with a walk. Mussina has surrendered seven runs and 14 hits in 10 innings in three games.

John Dillinger notched the win despite allowing three runs and four hits in 1 1/3 innings. Mariano Rivera struck out one in a perfect ninth.

Dee Brown homered and drove in a pair of runs for the Royals.
