Colorado 7, San Diego 3

TUCSON, March 15 (UPI) -- John Thomson tossed five steady innings and helped himself at the plate and seven players each drove in a run Friday to help the Colorado Rockies down the San Diego Padres, 7-3.

Thomson was not spectacular, but he got the job done, allowing two runs and six hits with a walk and three strikeouts for the victory. Thomson aided his cause with a pair of hits and an RBI.

Juan Uribe, Todd Hollandsworth and Ben Petrick each chipped in two of the Rockies' 15 hits.

Brian Lawrence suffered the loss, giving up five runs and nine hits in three innings.
