BRISTOL, Conn., March 4 (UPI) -- Tim Ruskell, Tampa Bay Buccaneers director of
player personnel, is expected to be named general manager of the Atlanta Falcons, it was reported Monday.
ESPN.com said that Ruskell, who has been part of the Bucs' organization for 15 years, will be offered the job and is expected to accept it.
The hiring of Ruskell would end a long search to fill a key position in the newly reconfigured front office under new owner Arthur Blank.
Ironically, one of the sought-after candidates for the job was believed to be Bucs General Manager Rich McKay, who recently signed a contract extension to stay in Tampa.
Blank also is believed to have interviewed New Orleans General Manager Randy Mueller, Tom Modrak, Buffalo director of football operations, and Seattle Vice President Mike Reinfeldt about the job.
Ruskell, 45, was named Tampa Bay personnel chief last spring when Jerry Angelo departed to become the general manager in Chicago.
