Riding a season-high four-game winning streak, Portland blew a 13-point lead and trailed, 78-70, after Miami's Eddie Jones made a 3-pointer with 4:07 remaining in the fourth quarter. Derek Anderson answered with a 3-pointer to start the rally.

Damon Stoudamire made a layup to cut the deficit to 78-75 with three minutes to go. Miami's Jimmy Jackson made a 3-pointer, but Stoudamire, Bonzi Wells and Anderson all connected from the arc, giving the Blazers an 84-81 lead with 1:07 left.

Mourning made two free throws and Rasheed Wallace and Stoudamire missed 3-pointers before Wallace tipped in Scottie Pippen's miss with 6.5 seconds to play. However, Jones banked in a 27-footer to tie it with 4.1 seconds left and Wallace's 3-pointer rattled in and out.

That was a sign of things to come, as Portland never led in the extra session, repeatedly firing away from the arc. It had a chance to tie in the final minute, but Mourning swooped in from the weak side to block Stoudamire's layup with 37 seconds left.

Portland had one more possession, but Anderson and Wallace again missed from long range. The Blazers were 6-of-24 from the arc.

Jones scored 25 points and Mourning added 19, 12 rebounds and two blocks for the Heat, who went 3-1 on their West Coast road trip and are 6-3 since an embarrassing 5-23 start.
