HONOLULU, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- Kenny Perry and Chris Riley each shot 5-under-par 65s on Thursday, giving them a share of the lead
after the first round of the Sony Open.

Perry, who began his season by finishing third last week at the Mercedes Championships, had six birdies and a bogey over the 7,060-yard Waialae Country Club layout.
Riley played bogey-free, rolling in five birdies during his first round of the season.
Jesper Parnevik of Sweden, John Cook and Jerry Kelly shot 66s and are tied for third at the first full-field event of the season. Four other players are tied at 67.
Tiger Woods is skipping this event after tying for 10th at the Mercedes. He took a $2 million appearance fee to compete in this week's New Zealand Open.
