Philadelphia 3, NY Islanders 2

UNIONDALE, N.Y., Dec. 4 (UPI) -- Keith Primeau scored a power-play goal with 7:39 remaining and the Philadelphia Flyers continued their recent dominance at the Nassau Coliseum Tuesday night with a 3-2 victory over the New York Islanders.

Philadelphia was mired in an 0-for-23 slump on the power play and was next-to-last in the NHL with just three power-play goals on the road. But the Flyers cashed in after New York's Brad Isbister was penalized for boarding with 8:48 to play.

Mark Recchi skated out from behind the net on the right side and whipped a pass across the slot that Primeau redirected past goaltender Chris Osgood. It was Primeau's third goal of the season and first in seven games.

The Islanders pulled Osgood for an extra attacker in the final minute but could not generate any scoring chances against Philadelphia, 5-1-1 in its last seven trips to the Nassau Coliseum.

Jeremy Roenick and Simon Gagne scored the other goals to help the Flyers climb within five points of the second-place Islanders in the Atlantic Division.
