Phoenix 5, Dallas 1

DALLAS, Nov. 9 (UPI) -- Shane Doan had a goal and an assist and Sean Burke made 25 saves as the Phoenix Coyotes ended a four-game winless streak Friday night with a 5-1 victory over the Dallas Stars.

Phoenix had a power play when Doan tied the score with 53 seconds remainin in the opening period. Defenseman Danny Markov took a slap shot from the right point and Doan redirected the puck into the short side of the net from the top right crease for his third goal of the season.

Rookie Krystofer Kolanos snapped the tie three minutes into the second period when he beat goaltender Marty Turco with a bad-angle shot. Kolanos took a pass from defenseman Radoslav Suchy and skated through the left faceoff circle and just past the end line, where he flipped a backhander that deflected off Turco's arm and inside the goalpost for his fourth goal.

Phoenix, which was 0-2-1-1 in its previous four contests, scored more than three goals for the first time since a 5-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on October 20.
