NEW YORK, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Othella Harrington came off the bench to score 16 points and Kurt Thomas had 11 points and 12 rebounds as the New York Knicks posted a 76-72 victory over the Utah Jazz Tuesday night in an exhibition matchup.
Harrington made 4-of-6 shots from the floor and sank all eight of his free throw attempts. He also had four rebounds and two assists.
Thomas made just 4-of-13 shots but pulled down six offensive rebounds for New York (4-3), which shot just 32 percent (24-of-75) from the floor and made only 1-of-11 3-pointers.
Latrell Sprewell scored 15 points and Allan Houston added 13 for the Knicks, who took the lead for good with a 9-0 run late in the first quarter.
Mark Jackson had five points and seven assists and Clarence Weatherspoon and Shandon Anderson chipped in six points apiece.
Charlie Ward endured a miserable game, making just 2-of-10 shots from the floor and missing all five of his 3-point attempts.
New York's Marcus Camby again did not play due to a sore left foot.
Utah (4-3) went on a 14-4 run in the fourth quarter to close within a basket, but never forged a tie. Rusty LaRue scored 10 points during the surge and finished with 16 on 5-of-8 shooting.
John Stockton had 12 points and five assists, but uncharacteristically committed seven of Utah's 25 turnovers.
Utah's second-round draft pick Jarron Collins had two points and six rebounds in 20 minutes while rookie Andrei Kirilenko had six points and five rebounds in 18 minutes.
Karl Malone was not with the team to be with his ailing mother.
