Atlanta 97, Chicago 71

ATLANTA, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Jason Terry scored 25 points and Shareef Abdur-Rahim had 20 points and nine rebounds as the Atlanta Hawks led from start to finish Monday night in 97-71 preseason rout of the Chicago Bulls.

Terry made 11-of-17 shots from the floor -- 2-of-4 from 3-point range--and recorded seven steals. Abdur-Rahim made 8-of-19 shots and added two steals and a block for Atlanta, which outscored the Bulls in every quarter.

The Hawks had a 42-33 lead at halftime and held Chicago without a field goal in the first 5:05 of the second half as they built a 55-39 cushion. Atlanta (4-2) led by as many as 29 in the fourth quarter.

Dion Glover had 14 points and five rebounds on his 23rd birthday and Cal Bowdler added eight and seven for the Hawks. Hanno Mottola also chipped in eight and seven.

Toni Kukoc scored just four points on 2-of-8 shooting but had six rebounds, five assists and three steals for the Hawks, who collected 21 steals. Rookie Scoonie Penn did not score but had an assist in three minutes.

Chris Crawford was sidelined with a sprained right thumb and Alan Henderson did not play for Atlanta due to a sore right knee.

Eddie Robinson scored 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting for Chicago (2-4), which had just three players in double figures and committed 26 turnovers. Fred Hoiberg and rookie Tyson Chandler added 10 points apiece.

Greg Anthony had seven points, nine rebounds and four assists and rookie Dalibor Bagaric contributed eight points for the Bulls.

First-round draft pick Eddy Curry had four points and four rebounds but made just 2-of-6 shots. Second-round pick Trenton Hassel scored six points on 3-of-5 shooting in eight minutes.
