Dallas 9, Washington 7

IRVING, Texas, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- Tim Seder has his share of setbacks, but not even a horse could stop him from kicking the game-winning field goal.

In a game that featured as many injuries as scoring chances, Seder hit a 28-yard chip shot as time expired, giving the Dallas Cowboys an ugly 9-7 win over the Washington Redskins in a battle of winless teams Monday night.

It wasn't all smiles for Seder, who was kicked by the Cowboys' horse in pre-game warmups and later missed a pair of field goals in the first Monday Night Football game featuring two 0-4 teams.

But Redskins running back Stephen Davis fumbled in Cowboys territory just before the two-minute warning, and Anthony Wright drove Dallas into field goal range. Emmitt Smith set up the short field goal with a 13-yard run and Seder made the kick to give the Cowboys (1-4) their first win in seven games, dating to last season.

The victory didn't come without its share of losses. Wideout Joey Galloway and backup running back Robert Thomas both sprained their left ankles and did not return. Injury was added to insult for the Redskins, who became this season's first 0-5 team in the NFL and lost cornerback Fred Smoot and tight end Stephen Alexander along the way.
