A litter of puppies was born about two months ago under a portable classroom at nearby Allen Elementary School and the puppies' mother, a white lab stray, and a male dog that officials believe is the puppies' father were seen pacing near the drain. They used a camera and a trap set near the drain to rescue the pup. After his rescue, officials say he was cold and hungry but otherwise alright. The dog was taken to a Dallas Animal Services facility and will be up for adoption after a three-day hold. Teacher Lynda Roth told NBC Dallas-Fort Worth she had seen the puppy stuck in the drain as early as Nov. 16. "The citizens have really tried around here to get a hold of it, the kids are upset at school. So bottom line is, we've got a puppy stuck in the drain since last Saturday," said Roth. Animal Control officers plan to catch the rest of the puppy's family and reunite them.
