Feb. 8 (UPI) -- Shoppers at a Walmart store in Saskatchewan were surprised to discover the store has some new residents -- birds.

The birds have been flying around in recent days inside the Preston Crossing Walmart in Saskatoon.

Jan Shadick, executive director with Living Sky Wildlife Rehabilitation, said the birds likely aren't inside the store by accident.

"When it's minus 50 out in Saskatchewan they're not crazy, they're going to be looking for somewhere warm," Shadick told CTV News.

Shadick said the best thing to do for the birds is to ignore them, as they would be difficult to evict. She said people should only be concerned if they spot the birds landing on the floor.

"They might be starting to get sick or more likely just be really hungry and weak," Shadick said.

A Walmart in Texas previously made headlines in 2016 when hundreds of blackbirds descended on the parking lot. Multiple videos showing the birds covering cars and harassing customers went viral.
