Struggling owl fished out of New York pool

Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Animal rescuers in New York state rushed to the rescue of an owl that plunged into a swimming pool and was struggling to get out of the water.

Frankie Floridia of the Strong Island Animal Rescue League said his team responded to a call from the Sweetbriar Nature Center about an owl stranded in a Commack swimming pool.

A video shows team members expressing relief to find the owl was still alive and using a net to fish it out of the water.

The rescue group said the owl was taken to a rehabilitation facility.
