June 1 (UPI) -- Police in Ohio rescued a baby deer that apparently tried to walk over a sewer grate behind a restaurant and became stuck in the metal bars.

The North Olmstead Police Department said in a Facebook post that officers were summoned by the owner of Sittoo's Restaurant on Sunday to rescue a fawn that became stuck in a grate behind the eatery and was unable to pull itself free.

The officers, along with personnel from the city's service department, pulled the fawn free from the grate.

"The mother stood by around the corner just feet away as everyone worked to help. The mother was extremely thankful to be reunited with her young one," the post said.
