Stranded dog rescued from icy pond in Colorado

Jan. 19 (UPI) -- Firefighters in Colorado rescued a dog wandered that wandered onto the ice at a frozen pond and fell into the frigid water below.

South Metro Fire Rescue said a crew responded to Sterne Park in Littleton after the dog was reported stranded in the freezing water.


The department shared video of a firefighter venturing out onto the ice and climbing down into the water to lift the dog back onto the frozen surface so it could walk to shore.

Firefighters said the dog was "tired" but uninjured after the rescue.
