Giant-sized 'Space Invaders' marks game's 40th anniversary

Jan. 12 (UPI) -- Revelers celebrated the 40th anniversary of groundbreaking video game Space Invaders by playing a giant-sized version of the game in Japan.

An even marking the game's anniversary at the Roppongi Hills Observatory in Japan opened Thursday and lasts through Jan. 31.

The celebration of the game includes several interactive events, including a giant-sized version of the game that was recorded on video by Twitter user Anji Salz.

The video shows Salz and a friend playing the game by stomping their feet on a floor where the game was projected, and moving to dodge the titular invaders' light blasts.
