Nov. 14 (UPI) -- Firefighters rushed to a family home in China to carry out an unusual rescue when a 10-year-old boy became trapped in a washing machine.

A video of the Sunday rescue in Zaozhuang City, Shandong Province, shows firefighters unsuccessfully attempting to free the boy by simply pulling him out through the opening.

The firefighters ended up using their tools to dismantle the machine so the boy could be removed without injuring him.

The boy was freed after about a half hour with no injuries other than scratches on his knees.

Firefighters did not reveal how the boy came to be trapped inside the appliance.
