Aug. 25 (UPI) -- A California woman said she has an unexpectedly new pet after finding a frog in a boxed salad she purchased from Target.

Becky Garfinkel of Corona said she bought the Taylor Farms baby spring salad mix from Target recently and she was about halfway through eating the meal when she noticed the lettuce moving on its own.

"As I'm pulling to go stab another bite, I see a frog sitting in my salad plate after I've eaten almost the entire salad. Completely freaked out -- screamed. I threw up afterward because I was traumatized. I'm a vegetarian and I couldn't believe there was a frog in there," Garfinkel told KABC-TV.

She posted photos of the salad frog to Target's Facebook page.

"This is the most disgusting thing I have seen," she wrote. "Yes that's a frog, a live frog from my spring mix I got from your store today. I discovered him after eating almost my entire salad and almost stabbed him."

Garfinkel said she rinsed the salad dressing off the frog and noticed the amphibian appeared to be in poor health.

"[My husband] noticed that he was kind of not moving a lot and he rolled over. So he decides, let's do some chest compressions. With his finger -- I'm not kidding you -- barely pushes on the little frog and he breathes and turns around. I'm like OK. We have to keep him," she said.

Garfinkel said Target told her an investigation with Taylor Farms is ongoing. She said the store offered her a $5 gift card, which doesn't even cover the cost of the salad.

The frog, which the couple dubbed Lucky, is recovering from the trauma at its new home, Garfinkel said.

"I will tell you right now, I have no desire to ever eat a salad again. I'm petrified of the thought of a salad," she said.
