"I really don't play that often and I only had a couple of dollars on me," Moreno said.
Moreno ended up winning $1 million when her kids' birthdays matched the first five numbers of the drawing, 6-7-16-23-26. She did not match the Powerball number, 4, giving her a second-tier $1 million prize instead of the $700 million grand prize.
She said the significant numbers meant she didn't even need to have her ticket with her to know she won.
"I [had to] go to the car, my ticket was in the car! I knew the numbers right away," Moreno said. "I jumped for joy! I put it in my purse and zipped it up but could barely sleep!"
"It's been difficult lately but now I plan to get a car, a house for the kids and go to school," she said. "I'm very thankful -- it's a blessing."
