North Carolina cat finds sparring snakes intertwined

Aug. 24 (UPI) -- A North Carolina couple said their cat discovered two large kingsnakes wrestling -- or possibly mating -- just outside of their home.

Brigitha Lacey said she and her husband were outside their home in Indian Trail, near Charlotte, when they noticed their cat was focused on something happening on some concrete steps.

The couple captured video of the two snakes writhing around while intertwined under the vigilant watch of their white cat.

The couple said the eastern kingsnakes, which use constriction to kill their prey and are known to be immune to the venom from other species of the snake, appeared to be fighting, but it appears in the video as though they may have been mating.

Lacey said they watched the snakes remain tangled for nearly an hour before they took their cat inside.
