July 14 (UPI) -- An Ontario woman said she is "extremely blessed" to have evaded injury when a tire crashed through her windshield on the highway.

Maria Albanese of Bolton posted photos to Facebook showing the damage to her car Monday after the tire flew off a trailer traveling in front of her in the southbound lanes of Ontario 407, near Highway 27, and crashed through the passenger side of her windshield.

Albanese said she had just dropped her children off at their grandmother's house and was on her way to work when the incident took place.

"I was lucky to be able to swerve left as that made the tire bounce closer to my passenger side rather than dead on," Albanese wrote. "I'm EXTREMELY blessed to have walked away from this and hugged my children until the begged to be let go last night."

Albanese said she is hoping other witnesses will come forward to help identify the trailer that lost the tire.

"The police said that the tire likely came from a small trailer that someone was towing, and that there was no way it could have gone more than a few hundred meters without it after it popped off," she told the Caledon Enterprise.
