Google Earth uncovers resident's message to 'A HOLE' neighbor

July 13 (UPI) -- A Washington state resident's insult against a neighbor has gone globally viral thanks to Google Earth and sharp-eyed Internet users.

A Redditor who recently searched for their home using the interactive world map noticed something unusual carved into a Sequim, Wash., resident's lawn -- the words "A HOLE" and an arrow pointing to a neighbor's house.

The image went viral after being re-shared on the site Wednesday.

Internet sleuths uncovered a 2009 Peninsula Daily News story about the house being indicated by the arrow. The article says neighbors were upset by the paint job on the home, which they dubbed "the purple people eater."

Google Earth's historical imagery function indicates a version of the message may have been first carved into the neighbor's lawn as early 2011.
