June 29 (UPI) -- A California woman was filmed leaping into action on a busy stretch of highway when she stopped to rescue a rooster spotted crossing the road.

Harrison Wibeto posted a video to Instagram showing what happened Tuesday when he stopped on the 105 Freeway in Los Angeles after picking Amy Goldman Koss up from the airport and heading toward her home in Glendale.

The video shows Koss running out into the road to grab the rooster attempting to cross the busy stretch of highway.

"[Wibeto] automatically stopped, I automatically jumped out of the car -- and luckily the semi next to us also stopped and blocked traffic, and that's why I'm not dead," Koss told KTLA-TV.

The video shows Koss capture the rooster just as it is attempting to run under the stopped semi.

"I think it shows that she cares about all animals," Wibeto said of the footage.

Koss admitted the situation could have ended worse.

"Bad idea, children, don't do this at home," she said.

Koss said she was able to find a home for the rooster after calling several area shelters, which she said were largely at capacity.
