Deputies chase road-blocking alligator across Florida parking lot

June 27 (UPI) -- A Florida sheriff's office said deputies responding to a call about an alligator blocking a road ended up chasing the reptile through a parking lot.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office posted photos and video to Facebook from the Sunday night incident when deputies responded to Baymeadows Road, where an alligator was reported to be blocking the street.

The video shows deputies chasing the alligator as it attempts a slow-speed getaway across a parking lot.

"These officers got together, used a ratchet strap, and took the alligator to a nearby pond. A little quick thinking and ingenuity and the gator was taken to a safe place," the Facebook post said.
