June 20 (UPI) -- Officials say a 250-pound loggerhead turtle was confused this week as it ventured onto a shoreline in the Florida Keys -- so much so that it ended up in an oceanside pool.

The turtle was discovered Monday in an Islamorada pool, CBS Miami reported. Officials with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission hauled the large female turtle out of the pool and released it back into the ocean.

ABC News reported those wildlife workers assessed the turtle and decided it was healthy. But they warned oceanside dwellers to turn off their lights at night, as the lighting can cause the type of disorientation they think led to the turtle falling into the pool.

That confusion can also affect turtles' nesting habits, the officials said.
