Ohio police find 3-foot caiman wandering parking lot

June 15 (UPI) -- Animal control officers in Ohio found what they believed to be an alligator wandering a local parking lot

Blue Ash Police Department said officers responded to reports of an alligator around 2 p.m. Wednesday, when they found and captured the 3-foot caiman, an animal closely related to alligators, in the parking lot.

Police were unsure where the caiman came from. Officers delivered it to the local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

The caiman was treated for injuries upon arriving at SPCA Cincinnati, where it will be held until it is claimed by its owner or placed by local rehabilitates

"He or she has injuries to his or her skin on his or her tail," the SPCA on Facebook. "It is possible that he or she was bitten by another animal and the wound went untreated for some time."
