June 14 (UPI) -- A California woman disguised her grandmother's dog as a baby so the pet would be able to visit her while she was sick in a hospital.

Shelby Hennick shared photos on Twitter of her carrying the small dog in a blanket in order to smuggle the pet into her grandmother's hospital room.

"My grandma is in the hospital right now and wanted to see her dog," she wrote on Sunday. "So I made it look like I was carrying a baby and we made it."

Hennick, a 21-year-old veterinary technician told BuzzFeed her grandmother's beloved pet dog Patsy played along with the plan as she managed to stroll past hospital staff.

"Patsy was quiet the whole time and actually kept licking my arm," she said.

Hennick also initially fooled her grandmother into thinking the bundle beneath the blanket was her sister's baby, but when Hennick placed Patsy on her lap the two shared an embrace as the dog barked and cuddled up to the ailing grandmother.

"I was really happy we were able to pull it off, and I'm sure it made her day," Hennick said.
