June 7 (UPI) -- A fair bunt during a Major League Baseball game between the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres turned "fowl" when a bird showed up on the field.

Video from the game's telecast Tuesday shows a bird resting in the grass, just beneath where Diamondbacks infielder Paul Goldschmidt placed his glove to field a bunt by a Padres batter in the third inning.

"When a fair ball goes fowl," the Diamondbacks' Twitter account wrote.

Goldschmidt's glove grazed the dove's back, prompting the bird to begin flapping its wings to search for a new spot to rest.

After its near collision with the bouncing baseball, the bird settled into a new spot near third base on the opposite side of the field.
