Australian fishermen spooked by massive crocodile

May 31 (UPI) -- A group of Australian fishermen shared video of their recent encounter with a massive crocodile they found sunning itself on the shore -- until it spotted them.

A video filmed by Matt Cox of Northbound Charters shows the fishermen's boat approach the big croc as it laid motionless on the shore of the Ord River on May 21.

The men got close to the crocodile, but quickly turned and started motoring away when the reptile suddenly noticed them and lunged into the water.

Cox estimated the crocodile was up to 16 feet long and had only three legs.

"Got a bit close to this big fella today," the Facebook post said.
