Jan. 26 (UPI) -- New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo pushed the plunger to detonate an 85-year-old steel bridge in Ulster County as part of a bridge replacement program.

Cuomo and local officials in Ulster County pressed the plunger together Wednesday to demolish the bridge over Rondout Creek on Route 213 in Marbletown.

The governor said the demolition marked the halfway point of his plan to replace 100 state-owned bridges across New York.

The replacement bridge, which is planned to feature a wider structure to include a sidewalk and improved views of nearby falls, is scheduled for completion in the summer.
