Sea lion pup rescued from middle of California street

SANTA BARBARA, Calif., Dec. 13 (UPI) -- A California wildlife rescue nonprofit said members of the Santa Barbara Harbor Patrol rescued a malnourished sea lion pup that wandered into a street.

The Channel Islands Marine & Wildlife Institute said in a Facebook post the sea lion pup was rescued by Harbor Patrol crews after witnesses reported the young creature wandering into the middle of a road.

The pup was found in the roadway of Cabrillo Boulevard, near Stearns Wharf, the institute said.

The malnourished sea lion is being treated by experts at the institute.
