MARGATE, Fla., Nov. 23 (UPI) -- Florida firefighters said they had to search for a kitten twice after it was freed from the undercarriage of a car and fled into the station.

Margate-Coconut Creek Fire Rescue said a woman drove to Fire Station 58 Tuesday and told firefighters there was a kitten lost somewhere inside her vehicle.

"Crews were able to locate the kitten hiding in the undercarriage near a rear wheel," the City of Margate said in a Facebook post. "Once the crew was able to safely extricate the kitten it ran into the station and hid again!"

The city said firefighters eventually located and captured the kitten, which will be turned over to animal control to find it a new home.
