SHELTON, Wash., Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Salmon are well known to swim upstream, but a Washington state man captured them showing off an even more impressive skill: Swimming across the road.

Terrence J Allison posted a video to YouTube showing salmon taking advantage of slight flooding on a Shelton road over the Skokomish River.

The video shows the salmon scurrying through mere inches of water to reach their spawning area on the other side of the road.

"Watch salmon race across the road on their way to spawn," Allison wrote.
