Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe MANSFIELD, Mass., Oct. 31 (UPI) -- A Massachusetts police department detailed the saga of a "masked suspect" -- an "overweight" raccoon -- freed from a dumpster outside of a Dunkin Donuts. The Mansfield Police Department said in a Facebook post that officers responded to the Dunkin Donuts just after noon Friday on "a report of a daytime B&E with a masked suspect." Advertisement "Upon arrival, officers found the suspect still at the scene of the crime, stuffing contraband into his mouth," the department wrote. The "masked suspect" was a portly raccoon and the "scene of the crime" was a dumpster outside of the eatery. The department said the raccoon's size appeared to be inhibiting its ability to climb out of the dumpster. "It appears our overweight friend has been hitting the dumpster diving a little too hard. The raccoon (who had previously been spotted sampling the 'leftovers' at Cafe on the Common) couldn't pull himself out of the gully of garbage," the post said. The post said Officer Tony "Animal Whisperer" Lattanzio assisted Animal Control Officer Simonds with setting up a wooden board inside the dumpster to act as a ramp for the rotund raccoon. Advertisement The raccoon was coaxed up the board and was last seen fleeing "back into the wilderness," the police department said.
