LONDON, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- A pop-up version of fast-food restaurant In-N-Out in London drew hundreds of customers, but limited stock left many disappointed.

The pop-up location in Swiss Cottage, London, opened from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. but lines stretched around the corner starting as early as 8 a.m., despite being announced by a modest advertisement in a local newspaper, Business Insider reported.

"First come, first served. Limited quantities for sale," the ad in the Camden New Journal stated.

Gold wristbands were handed out to attendees who were guaranteed to receive burgers, while some who did not receive wristbands offered up to $130 to purchase them according to the Evening Standard.

Some guests reported waiting hours to get a burger while others who did not receive wristbands complained the limited stock was not mentioned in the advertisement.

Manager of special foreign events at the California-based chain In-N-Out, Eric Billings, issued an apology to disgruntled customers but said some of them may have been "misled" about the nature of the event.

"To the people who didn't get served today we apologize," he said. "I don't know if they were perhaps misled by a third-party but we were just a four-hour pop-up. I will take their comments back with me."
