GOREY, Jersey, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- A woman whose iPhone was washed out to sea at a British beach said the device turned up a month later -- and it still works.

Stacey Sarre, 47, said she tripped over her puppy, Bru, during a walk on Gorey Beach, and she later discovered her iPhone 5S had apparently slipped out of her pocket when she fell.

Sarre said she used another beach-goer's phone with a GPS tracking app and discovered her phone had washed out into the English channel.

The phone had been lost for a month when Mihal Stratulat discovered it in the sand while using his metal detector.

Stratulat said the device initially appeared to be non-functioning, but after drying it out for a few days he was able to switch it on and find its owner.
