New Zealand man praises mailman's friendship with 'unapproachable' dog

TAURANGA, New Zealand, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- A New Zealand man shared a video showing the touching friendship between his dog and one of the canine's natural enemies -- the mailman.

Michael Collins of Tauranga posted a video to Facebook showing his neighborhood postal carrier pausing to show some love to the dog, which licks the mailman's face in return.

Collins said the 9-month-old canine "always gets over looked as a dangerous or unapproachable dog" despite the fact that he doesn't growl and rarely barks at passersby.

"But this guy here always makes an effort to get off his bike to give him a hug and a pat! I'm not sure who to tag on Facebook for him to see this! But thanks man keep up the good job and you've definitely got a friend waiting for ya!!" Collins wrote.

He said he noticed the postal worker makes it a point to visit the dog every day, even if there's no mail to deliver to his home.
