OAKLAND, Calif., July 20 (UPI) -- An unsuspecting vendor at a Major League Baseball game was struck in the rear end by a foul ball that was hit into the stands.

MLB.com shared video of the incident that left the ice cream vendor rubbing his sore backside during a game between the Oakland Athletics and Houston Astros.

Astros infielder Marwin Gonzalez sent the foul ball into the stands during the third inning of the scoreless contest as it bounced off the vendor's butt and was claimed by a nearby fan.

The vendor, who was facing away from the play at the time, seemed to remain in good spirits after the contact and the commentators suggested that the fan give him the ball as compensation for his pain.

He can later be seen smiling as he turned his face toward the field and displayed his wares to the crowd while walking down the aisle.
