"She was taken to Bradshaw vet for a broken leg and malnutrition/dehydration," they wrote in a Facebook post on May 14. "We are so glad she is getting the help she needs!"

According to ABC News, police first received calls about a dog falling off of a truck on April 10 and sightings of Freeway Frida continued to be reported for several weeks.

"For the past five weeks, we've gotten calls every other day from people reporting an injured dog on the median," Officer Siliva Coelho said. "But every time we went out there, we couldn't see or find her. She was like a ghost dog."

Coelho told KCRA that calls abruptly stopped after a few weeks and officers began to worry about Frida's well-being.

"Last week, when we stopped getting calls, I thought something happened, she, you know, died," she said.

Police then heard another report about Frida and managed to rescue her after they "got lucky" with light Saturday traffic.

"She was really skinny and malnourished when we first brought her in, but she's on the mend, and she's doing awesome," Coelho said. "Though she was skittish at first, she's starting to relax now."

Galt police department shared a photo of Coelho visiting Frida as she recovered at the Bradshaw VCA vet and reported that she was doing well.

"I wish I could keep her," Coelho said. "With my line of work, I'm never home, so she needs a good, loving home that will help her heal."
