PRICE, Utah, April 20 (UPI) -- A missing cat was found living in a couch that an unknowing Utah woman dropped off at a local thrift store.

A woman shared photos of the stowaway cat with the couch to the Facebook group Carbon & Emery Yard Sale, and wrote that someone had left the animal and the couch at a nearby Deseret Industries thrift shop.

"Someone dropped a couch off at the DI an it had a cat in it," Facebook user Tonya Edwards wrote.

She soon received a response from a woman named Brittnie Arroyo who claimed to have been friends with the cat's owner and helped transport the couch to the thrift store.

"I was helping my friend move and the couch was in the back of my truck for like 20 minutes," she said. "She obviously didn't know the cat was in the couch. She didn't meow or anything."

Arroyo told KUTV that she convinced her friend Rachel Barbee to take the couch to the thrift store rather than dropping it off at the local dump, which ultimately helped reunite Barbee and her cat.

"I was like just take it to the D.I., you never know," Arroyo said. "She would have never seen her cat again if she would have taken it to the dump."

Barbee soon returned to the Deseret Industries store and reclaimed her cat, and the store manager marveled at the strange situation.

"This is the first time for this store and a first time for me," he said.
