KATY, Texas, April 19 (UPI) -- A Texas midwife braved flooded streets by using a unique flotation device to make her way to the birth center.

Cathy Allen Rude of Katy Birth Center in Katy, Texas shared a photo of herself riding a large inflatable swan through flood waters on her way to work.

"Midwives will do anything to get to a birth!" Rude wrote. "Riding a swan to get off my flooded street and make it to the birth center!"

Texas has been hit by as much as 20 inches of heavy rain through Monday, as Texas Gov. Greg Abbott declared nine counties in the southeastern part of the state a 'disaster area.'

Despite the disaster and the heavily flooded streets, Rude was determined to make her way to work and thanked her inflatable swan for its help.

"Thanks, Celeste! You gave me a great ride!" she wrote.
