FESTUS, Mo., March 31 (UPI) -- A burglar at a Missouri comic book shop took the time to steal KISS action figures but neglected to double-check that he hadn't left his cellphone at the scene.

Jason Hughes and Brandon Williams, owners of All the Rage Comics and Games in Festus, said the burglar broke through the business' back door early Tuesday and made off with a laptop, a cash register, $35 cash, two KISS action figures and Pokemon cards.

However, the thief apparently took a cue from Batman villain the Riddler and left behind a pair of clues -- a pack of cigarettes and his cellphone.

"When police were investigating, the cellphone actually rang. It lit up because it was face up. When it stopped [ringing] it went to the lock screen, which showed a man's face on it," Hughes told KTVI-TV. "Not only do you leave your cellphone behind, but you have a picture of yourself flexing like, 'This is my background picture because I'm all that.' It's like, 'You're all that headed to jail.'"

The suspect was located and some of the stolen merchandise was recovered.

The store's Facebook page credited the owners' "Batman-like detective skills (and the fantastic help of the Festus Police Department)" with bringing a swift end to the saga.

"Come to All The Rage home of the 'Smart' phone bandit," a post on the store's Facebook reads.
