"It's not every day that our Officers capture a 4-5 ft Boa Constrictor on the job," they wrote, accompanied by the hashtag Florida life.
Homeowner Sonya Clifton said her cats spotted the boa constrictor at around 5:30 a.m. and admitted that the snake gave her quite a scare once she went to investigate.
"I bent over and looked down, and you know I wasn't awake yet. And then I look down again and I'm like 'Oh my God, it's a snake,'" she told WFLA.
Unfortunately for Clifton the animal control office wouldn't be open for another three hours, so she called local police who sent officers to remove the snake.
Although not specifically trained to wrangle animals, officer Todd Tschetter used a pole he happened to have in his trunk to pick up the boa constrictor and move it away from Clifton's home.
