Bottle of McDonald's Big Mac Sauce sells for $95,394 on eBay

LONDON, Feb. 12 (UPI) -- The British wing of fast food chain McDonald's sold a bottle of its famously secretive Big Mac Sauce on eBay for nearly $100,000.

The chain, which has kept the recipe of the sauce under wraps for decades, placed a single bottle of Big Mac Sauce up for auction on the British version of eBay and the auction ended with a high bid of 65,900 pounds -- $95,394.

"This is the only bottle of Big Mac Sauce that's ever been available to the public in the UK and isn't available for sale anywhere else in the country," the listing said.

The 25-ounce bottle will be shipped in a refrigerated container, the listing said.

The auction, which was only open to eBay users in mainland Britain and Northern Ireland, celebrated the release of The Bacon Clubhouse sandwich and raised funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities.

McDonald's previously offered a limited release of the Big Mac Sauce at Australian stores for $3.51 each, and they quickly sold out.
