LOS ANGELES, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- The Los Angeles Fire Department shared video of firefighters using ladders and a sling to rescue a dog trapped in a rain-swollen river.

The department said in a Facebook post two fire crews responded Tuesday to a report of a dog trapped in the river.

Firefighters said it took about 30 minutes to find the dog, named Kenny, and they used ground ladders and a sling to bring the canine to dry land.

"We understand not all family members walk on two legs. And we also want to prevent residents from putting themselves in danger by attempting a rescue without the proper equipment and training, so this is part of what we do," the post said.
