"Reading it has made me realize how ungrateful we are these days," he wrote. "Kids requesting expensive electronic toys from Santa and all little old David here asked for was a Rupert annual, drum box of chalks, soldiers and Indians, slippers, silk tie pencil box, and any little toys that Santa has to spare!"

Inspired by the letter, Shaw was able to find out David's last name from the neighbors and arranged to return the letter to him after tracking him down on Facebook.

"We found hm with the help of the old lady next door," he told Breaking News Ireland. "He now lives on the other side of Reading in Tilehurst and the local online paper Get Reading has arranged for us to meet him tomorrow."
